Machine Operator
Del Metals is a mid-size steel service centre involved in the distribution of Carbon and non ferrous steel products including Sheet, Pipe and General Lines. At present, the company has an opening for a Cut-to-Length Operator/ Computerized Machine Operator located at the Brampton Ontario facility. We offer competitive wages and benefits.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Set up new work orders and operate the cut-to-length machine
- Understand computer commands on equipment
- Diagnose and correct machine problems, report equipment failures to supervisor, and assist in the maintenance of the machine
- Maintain a safe work environment while maximizing productivity, and following safety guidelines (includes wearing proper protective equipment)
- Preform required housekeeping duties in order to maintain a clean and safe working area
Qualifications
- 1-3 years’ experience operating a computer machine such as, a leveler or Cut-to- Length machine preferred
- Previous experience with precision machines is preferred
- An understanding of leveling theory is preferred
- Basic math skills and functional literacy in reading, writing and calculation is required
- Must be dependable, and must have own transportation
- Familiarity with general computer programs and operating computerized machinery
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work individually, as well as a team and work under general supervision
